Too much bath time can cause the fibers to mat. Work the entire rug for five minutes. Once the sheepskin has been brushed fill a bath with cold water and add a wool shampoo specifically designed for sheepskin rugs. The best way to remove bad odor on your faux sheepskin rug is to wash it.

First get rid of all of the loose dirt on the rug by hanging it on a clothesline. Once it s been rinsed roll up the sheepskin and squeeze it dry. Rinse detergent out if instructions require. Allow the baking soda to remain on the rug for at least two hours overnight is better.

You may also want to pat it with clean towels or sponges to absorb any remaining moisture. First fill a tub with cool water and sheepskin detergent. Completely submerge your sheepskin in the warm water and gently swill the rug around. Don t rub it as this could cause the wool to become matted.

Squeeze the sheepskin out and rinse it twice in cold water to remove all detergent. After 10 or 15 minutes gently squeeze the soapy water through the wool fibers. Immerse your sheepskin in the tub and let it soak. Immerse the sheepsking rug in water and scrub spots out while it is in the water.
