Most toploading washing machines instruct you not to wash waterproof materials such as neoprene playmats because it can clog a portion of the machine throwing the load off balance and causing damage to its internals. Place the powdered soap on the water dipped sponge and then lightly scrub on the designed side of the mat. Harsh chemical cleaners may damage the surface and are not recommended. A rubber play mat can be cleaned with the same method listed above.
