Cutting laminate flooring along wall step 3.
How to cut laminate floor trim.
Hold one end of the transition strip with your nondominant hand and press down firmly on the hack saw with your dominant hand.
If the track is too narrow the trim will not want to snap in too easily.
In order to get accurate cuts clamp the straight edge or a laminate flooring plank to your board making sure the blade of the jigsaw goes exactly over the cut line at both sides.
Cut the laminate piece in half across its width through the center of the hole.
Pro tips for diyer.
Step 4 move the hack saw back and forth over the transition strip until it is cut in two pieces.
Cut your wood trim to the appropriate size using a circular saw.
Apply a single bead or line of glue from one end of the trim piece to other stopping short of the end about 1 2 inch.
Use a hole saw about 1 2 in diameter larger than the pipe diameter to create an opening for the pipe.
Fit the pieces around the pipe and use glue suitable for laminate to attach the pieces together.
Step 4 press the trigger to release the silicone caulk from the tube and into the gap.
The metal tracks tend to pull together when the screws are tightened in the track.
Pull the caulk gun s trigger to bring the silicone caulk to the tip of the tube.
The plastic tracks cannot be spread apart before inserting the transition.
Wipe off the edges with a clean rag and remove all the small shreds of metal left over from the cut.
Hold the gun at a 45 degree angle and position its tip at one end of the gap between the floor and the wall trim.
Use a straight edge or another laminate flooring board to guide the jigsaw circular saw while doing the cut.
To cut laminate flooring measure and mark the laminate s surface so you know where to cut then use a circular saw or a handsaw with at least 18 teeth per inch to make straight cuts.
You may need to spread the track apart where the screws are.
A 45 degree angle means each laminate flooring trim piece can sit flush with the next piece when they meet in corners.
If you need to make curved cuts create a paper pattern first and place the pattern over the laminate to ensure accuracy when you re cutting.
