Keep the same pressure throughout your cut and be very careful not to dip out or in from the penciled line.
How to dry mat a poster.
Another method to try is to mist the poster.
Press the razor down firmly at the top corners of the boards.
This may remove wrinkles.
Place the poster on the shrink wrap.
Turn on your iron and allow it to preheat while you begin getting your print prepared for mounting.
Stand back and lightly spray the wrinkled area or spray in the air and pass the poster through the mist.
Pull the razor slowly and steadily towards you stopping at the bottom corner.
Dry the poster between cotton and under weights.
Luckily this damage is simple to repair.
Unroll the poster onto the board slowly unrolling a few inches at a time and applying to the poster.
Follow the package directions on your dry mounting paper to see what temperature is needed for the mounting process.
However posters are typically made from thin paper which is delicate and easily damaged and they may have been stored or shipped rolled or folded.
How to make a picture frame.
Use a straight edge razor to cut the backing and mat boards.
Smooth out any air bubbles using a credit card or the spine of a hardcover book.
It ll take a day or two for the poster to dry but it s easier to control the water exposure than it is the heat from the iron.

Rather than discarding a crinkled poster you can simply smooth out the wrinkles and continue to enjoy the image.
Peel back a few inches of the adhesive foam board s protective film and line up the print with the edge of the board.

Dry mounting is one of the longest lasting preservation methods but it s also permanent and that can devalue some posters.
Unroll a piece of shrink wrap that is twice as wide as the matted poster and three times as long.
