You can easily connect your ipad to a projector with apple s vga adapter and a common vga cable.
Connect the other end of your hdmi or vga cable to your secondary display tv monitor or projector.
From the home screen on the ipad swipe upward from the bottom of the screen to bring up the control center.
Then you simply attach the ipad to the appropriate adapter.
Connect an apple tv to your projector using an hdmi cable.
Select the airplay icon.
