How to measure for drawers.
Calculate the drawer s length to complete your measurements.
To find the width measure the outer to outer of the unit where you want the drawer box to go.
Examine the bottom of the drawer that you just removed.
These measurements need to be accurate down to 1 16 inch.
The next and final step to measure for a drawer box is to measure the depth from the front of the cabinet face to the back of the cabinet.
Use a tape measure or a fabric measuring tape to measure the depth and width.
To find the height you will measure your old drawer box.
Obstructions can include electrical boxes pipes and cords.
To start to find the depth measure the front to the back of the unit.
If possible remove the drawer from its tracks and place it on the counter top.
In order to get the most accurate measurements possible for your new drawer boxes we recommend removing your drawers completely in many instances and setting them aside during the measuring process.
Extend the tape measure from the front edge of the drawer to the back edge.
As shown below we recommend using a paper fabric measuring tape because they are easy to bend.
Take note of this measurement as under mounted slides need to be the exact same length as the drawer.
Bottom mount drawer slides usually require a 1 height reduction to allow the drawer to be installed using a tip in method.

For 1 2 drawer material thickness subtract 5 8 from opening width.
For 5 8 drawer material thickness subtract 3 8 from opening width.
Measuring drawers is easy but here are a few tips.
You may need to subtract more depending on the glides you choose.
If you do not have a drawer box measure the internal height.
If your measurement comes to 3 3 4 then you need to round down to a 3 1 2 drawer box.
Make sure you measure all the way to the back wall and take note of any obstructions.
Measure the cabinet opening height inside frame to frame and subtract at least 1 2 from the opening height.
