Slide the nut up and screw it to the strainer. No washers are required here. From under the sink hold the drain tailpiece with one hand and tighten the mounting nut upwards toward the bottom of the sink. You ll note one of them is much too loose but the other one fits just right.

Insert the bottom of the drain into the open drain hole. Apply firm pressure all around the top of the flange to seat it securely in its bed of putty. You simply slip a nut onto the waste drain and press it against the other pipe then hand tighten the nut.
